To work out plans
for the protection of natural ecological conditions,
protection of water environment and offshore
marine environment as well as prevention and
control of environmental pollution and contamination,
and to implement these plans; to guide, coordinate
and supervise the prevention and control of
marine environment pollution or contamination;
to join efforts with other related departments
and offices in working out plans for natural
protection zones, working out biological species
variety protection programs, to assess and
examine the municipal level natural protection
zone and raise proposals to the municipal
government on this issue; to give instructions
to the recovery and rectification of the damaged
ecological conditions, the protection of wetland
environments; to inspect and supervise the
administration over the ecological environment
protection in the rural areas; to be in charge
of the construction of ecological model zone
projects; to take part in the investigation
and handling of the issues concerning water
pollution, marine pollution or damages on
ecological conditions.
